The Best MVNO Plans in 2026: A Premium Buyer's Guide
We scored the top plans from 7 MVNOs on perks, support, fees and price. See which premium MVNO plan ranks first in 2026.

In October 2026, our research team compiled a dataset of seven mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs), carriers that lease capacity on a larger network instead of owning towers, and scored each carrier's top single-line plan at its regular monthly price. Prices, fees and data allowances were aggregated between October 5 and October 16, 2026, from plan pages, support pages and the FCC Broadband Facts labels that providers must display at the point of sale, which list prices, fees and data allowances in a standard format8. This report compares top tiers for buyers who want the most from a plan rather than the lowest monthly bill, and our algorithm weights seven benchmarks:
- Benefits (30%): included streaming credits or subscriptions, hotspot allowance and international data on the top plan, counted by inclusion rather than dollar value
- Human Support (25%): live phone support hours and whether phone support covers every plan; chat-only support scores lowest live phone and live chat hours, and whether phone support covers every plan
- Flexibility (15%): month-to-month terms versus required bundles, early termination fees and upfront fees
- Pricing (10%): the regular single-line monthly price of the top plan, with promotional rates excluded
- Coverage (10%): the number of host networks a new customer can use, plus international data included
- Range of Plans (5%): the number of published plan tiers
- Price Transparency (5%): the gap between promotional and regular prices, plus taxes, provider fees and activation fees

Each benchmark is scored from 1 to 10 against the published rubric below, and the Total Score is the weighted sum on a 100-point scale. Benefits and Human Support carry the most weight because a premium buyer is paying for what the top tier adds, and switching carriers means relying on a person by phone when a number transfer stalls.
The rubric rewards inclusions a buyer can verify on a label or plan page. Network speed and latency claims are excluded because typical-speed disclosures vary by location and are not comparable across labels.
The Best MVNO Plans Compared
In the table below, we break down how each MVNO's top plan scored across our seven benchmarks, with each factor's score out of 10 shown in parentheses.
The Best MVNO Plans in 2026: A Premium Buyer's Guide
*Total Score is calculated by Vetra Mobile, the publisher of this report, using the weighted algorithm and rubric above. Vetra's own plan was scored against the same rubric as every other carrier. Sources: Vetra1,9,10,11; Google Fi2,12,13; Total Wireless3,14,15,16; Cricket5,17,18; Xfinity Mobile19,6,20,21; Visible7,22,23; Consumer Cellular4,24,25.
Vetra Mobile, for streaming fans switching carriers
Vetra Mobile is a new prepaid carrier, and its Unlimited Elite plan is the only top tier in this dataset with a recurring streaming credit. The plan's VSUB is a monthly gift card redeemable on YouTube Premium or Twitch sub (ad-free), delivered at the start of each billing cycle and claimable until the next cycle begins10. Elite's Broadband Facts label lists unlimited high-speed data with no usage-based slowdown, adding that data may be deprioritized during network congestion, along with a 30GB hotspot and 5GB of international roaming1 that can be used in 200+ countries9.
The trade-offs are price and track record. At $65 per month with AutoPay, plus taxes that vary by location, Elite ties Google Fi for the highest top-plan price in the set, and its three-plan lineup is one of the narrower ones reviewed1. Support is the strongest counterweight: Vetra lists 24/7 phone support answered by people, plus a live chat with an average wait under two minutes11. Because the carrier is new, buyers are relying on published terms rather than third-party satisfaction scores.
- Location: Tampa, FL
- Year Founded: 2026
- Price Range: $25 to $65 per month with AutoPay1
- Average Review Score: New entrant; no third-party score yet
- Services Offered: Core, Unlimited Prime and Unlimited Elite prepaid plans; data top-ups; International Day Pass1
Google Fi Wireless, for premium international data
Google Fi's Unlimited Premium plan is built for travelers. It includes 100GB of high-speed data before speeds slow to 256 kbps, 50GB of high-speed data in more than 200 destinations, calls from the US to more than 50 countries, and a 50GB hotspot allowance, alongside 100GB of Google One storage2. Google lists no contracts or activation fees on its plans and 24-hour customer support2, which earned Fi a perfect score on Human Support.
Two details temper the value. YouTube Premium is included for six months2, after which it bills separately26, and taxes and fees are added to the $65 rate13. Fi's satisfaction record is solid: it scored 673 and ranked second among postpaid MVNOs in J.D. Power's 2026 Volume 2 study27.
- Location: Mountain View, CA
- Year Founded: 2015 (as Project Fi)28
- Price Range: $35 to $65 per month for unlimited plans12
- Average Review Score: J.D. Power 673 (2026 Volume 2, postpaid MVNO segment)27
- Services Offered: Flexible and three Unlimited plans; international data; data-only SIMs; Google One storage12
Total Wireless, for a five-year price lock
Total ALL ACCESS costs $60 per month with AutoPay, taxes and fees included, and pairs unlimited data with Disney+ Premium for as long as the plan is active, an unlimited hotspot capped at 10 Mbps, 1TB of cloud storage and roaming in more than 140 countries3. New subscribers also get a five-year price guarantee on the tax-inclusive rate, although the guarantee does not cover discounts such as the AutoPay credit31.
The 10 Mbps hotspot cap limits heavy tethering, and the $60 rate depends on AutoPay, with $65 charged before the credit applies14. Phone support runs from 8 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. ET daily and chat runs until 2:45 a.m. ET15, which scored below the carriers with 24/7 phone lines. Total Wireless belongs to Verizon Value, the unit that grew out of Miami-based TracFone32.
- Location: Miami, FL (Verizon Value)32
- Year Founded: 1996 (TracFone, parent)32
- Price Range: $25 to $60 per month with AutoPay14
- Average Review Score: Outside J.D. Power's published 2026 MVNO rankings27
- Services Offered: Four prepaid plans; home internet; phones14
Cricket Wireless, for taxes-included streaming perks
Supreme Unlimited costs $55 per month with AutoPay, and Cricket's Broadband Facts label shows a $60 base price, government taxes included and no contract5. The plan includes unlimited high-speed data, a 50GB hotspot, 150GB of cloud storage, HBO Max Basic With Ads, and use in Mexico and Canada5.
Roaming stops at Mexico and Canada, which limits the plan for overseas trips, and online orders carry a $9.99 SIM kit17 while in-store activation costs $255. Phone support runs Monday through Saturday, with Saturday hours shortened to noon to 9 p.m. ET since January 2026, while chat is open seven days a week18. Cricket, owned by AT&T since 201434, scored 652 and tied for third among prepaid MVNOs in J.D. Power's 2026 Volume 2 study27.
- Location: Atlanta, GA34
- Year Founded: 199934
- Price Range: $30 to $55 per month with AutoPay, taxes included17
- Average Review Score: J.D. Power 652 (2026 Volume 2, prepaid MVNO segment)27
- Services Offered: Four prepaid plans; phones; retail stores17
Xfinity Mobile, for existing Xfinity internet households
Mobile Plus costs $45 per line per month and includes lifetime device protection covering loss, theft and damage, device upgrades for eligible customers, 4K streaming and Global Travel Pass coverage in more than 215 destinations19. Hotspot data is unlimited with speeds reduced after 50GB, and international data speeds are reduced after 10GB per month6.
Eligibility is the main limit: all Xfinity Mobile plans require an Xfinity Internet account at signup19, which gave the plan the lowest Flexibility score in the dataset. New customers can get a first-year rate of $15 per month before the $45 regular rate applies6, and a $25 activation fee applies to each new line20. Chat support runs 24 hours a day while phone hours vary by region21, and Xfinity Mobile scored 594 among postpaid MVNOs in J.D. Power's 2026 Volume 1 study37.
- Location: Philadelphia, PA (Comcast)
- Year Founded: 201738
- Price Range: $30 to $45 per line per month19
- Average Review Score: J.D. Power 594 (2026 Volume 1, postpaid MVNO segment)37
- Services Offered: Mobile Select and Mobile Plus plans; device protection; phones19
Visible, for all-digital unlimited premium data
Visible+ Pro costs $45 per month with taxes and fees included and lists unlimited hotspot data at up to 15 Mbps, two Global Pass days per month for use in more than 140 countries, and unlimited calling and texting to Mexico and Canada7. Visible's Broadband Facts labels show no provider fees, no one-time fees at purchase and no early termination fee22.
Support is the defining trade-off: Visible has no phone support line, and help runs through 24/7 online chat in its app and on its website23, which gave it the lowest Human Support score in the dataset. Its satisfaction data is strong regardless; Visible scored 708 and ranked second among prepaid MVNOs in J.D. Power's 2026 Volume 2 study27.
- Location: Denver, CO42
- Year Founded: 201842
- Price Range: $25 to $45 per month, taxes included22
- Average Review Score: J.D. Power 708 (2026 Volume 2, prepaid MVNO segment)27
- Services Offered: Three digital-only plans; smartwatch service on Visible+ Pro7
Consumer Cellular, for support-first older adults
The Unlimited plan for customers 18 and older costs $60 per month for one line, with taxes and a $3.99 monthly carrier fee added and a $10 activation fee per line4. High-speed data runs 35GB to 50GB depending on the number of lines25, hotspot use draws from the same allowance4, and new activations go on a single host network24. The brand's strongest pricing is reserved for customers 50 and older, who pay $35 for one unlimited line25.
Support is the brand's reputation: Consumer Cellular has ranked highest among postpaid MVNOs in J.D. Power's study for three consecutive volumes, scoring 720 in 2026 Volume 227. Access is narrower than that reputation suggests, with phone lines open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET daily25 and chat from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT24, and the plan includes no streaming perk, which left it last in the weighted ranking.
- Location: Scottsdale, AZ44
- Year Founded: 199544
- Price Range: $20 to $60 per month45
- Average Review Score: J.D. Power 720 (2026 Volume 2, postpaid MVNO segment)27
- Services Offered: Data and unlimited plans; AARP member pricing; phones25
The Top MVNO Plans in the US by Specialty
We also broke down the top companies into three subcategories based on specialty.
The Top MVNO Plans in the US for Gamers
This list is ranked on three inputs: an included gaming or streaming credit or subscription, high-speed data and hotspot allowance. Speed and latency claims are not scored.
Vetra ranks first because its credit renews every billing cycle while the plan is active and can be spent on YouTube or Twitch, the two platforms most tied to gaming streams. Google Fi and Cricket offer larger hotspot allowances, which matters for players tethering a console or laptop.
The Top MVNO Plans in the US for Leaving a Legacy Carrier
This list ranks plans on the friction a customer faces when leaving one of the three national carriers: contract terms and upfront fees, live phone support for number transfers, and price transparency. It combines each plan's Flexibility, Human Support and Price Transparency scores, and ties are broken on published J.D. Power satisfaction scores.
Google Fi and Vetra posted identical switching scores, with no contract, no activation fee and around-the-clock support on both. Fi ranks first on its published J.D. Power score, while Vetra is too new to appear in third-party satisfaction studies.
The Top MVNO Plans in the US with Human Customer Support
This list is ranked on access: live phone support hours across every plan tier. Satisfaction scores are reported in the company summaries but not weighted here.
Vetra and Google Fi both scored 10 on Human Support, and Vetra places first because it also publishes a chat wait time. On satisfaction alone, Consumer Cellular's J.D. Power score of 720 leads every carrier in this report27, but its limited phone and chat hours kept it off this list.
Choosing the Best MVNO Plan
Across the seven top tiers in this report, the top three carriers finish within 3.5 points of each other, and the order turns on what a buyer values. Vetra's Unlimited Elite leads the weighted ranking on a recurring streaming credit and 24/7 phone support, Google Fi leads on international data, and Total Wireless leads on a long-term price guarantee. Readers comparing plans can review each carrier's Broadband Facts label before switching; Vetra's three plans and their labels are listed at vetramobile.com/plans.
