GTA 6 is set in Florida. So are we.
Grand Theft Auto VI comes out November 19 and it takes place in Leonida, Rockstar's version of Florida. Here is what Rockstar has shown so far.

Grand Theft Auto VI comes out November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It takes place in the state of Leonida, and anyone who lives in Florida will recognize it right away. Vetra is based in Tampa, so we have been paying close attention.

What Rockstar has confirmed
Pre-orders opened June 25. The Standard Edition is $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99. Pre-loading starts November 12, one week before launch.
The story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. In Rockstar's words, an easy score goes wrong and the two of them end up "on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America."
Leonida and the real places behind it
Rockstar never calls it Florida, but the regions it has named line up with places most people here know. The real-world matches below are how fans and the press read them. Rockstar hasn't confirmed them.
- Vice City: Miami. Rockstar calls it "the sun and fun capital of America."
- Leonida Keys: the Florida Keys.
- Grassrivers: the Everglades.
- Port Gellhorn: the Gulf Coast and the Panhandle. Rockstar calls it "Leonida's forgotten coast."
- Ambrosia: the sugar country around Lake Okeechobee.
- Mount Kalaga National Park: the woods and rivers up by the state's northern border.

Florida weather and Florida wildlife
Game Informer's cover story on the game went live September 29. It says Rockstar worked to recreate Florida as accurately as it could. The game has tropical storms and seasonal hurricanes, and more than 170 animal species. Alligators, manatees, flamingos and pelicans are in the game. So are green iguanas and cane toads. Anyone who lives here has seen both in their yard.
What about Tampa?
Rockstar hasn't shown anything that looks like Tampa yet. We will be watching for it.
Launch week
GTA VI comes out the week after TwitchCon San Diego, where Vetra has a booth. A lot of people will be watching GTA VI streams on their phones that week. Streaming video uses a lot of data, and Unlimited Elite has no data cap. It is $65/mo with AutoPay, before taxes, and it comes with a VSUB every month for a Twitch sub or YouTube Premium.
